Wording for Wedding Invitations

One of the most complicated parts of your wedding planning is choosing the perfect wording for your wedding invitations.  Something that would seem to be simple and straightforward can be anything but that.  Traditionally, the wording of your wedding invitation acknowledged who was hosting (aka funding) the wedding.  These days anything goes and it’s ultimately up to you, the Couple.  Be original!  Get creative!  Really let your personality and style shine through when you describe how special your wedding day is to you both and how important it is that your Guests attend.  Whether you decide the wording for your wedding invitation will be formal or more casual, there are a few details that are must haves:

  • Full names of the Couple
  • Day and date of the wedding, including the year
  • Location and time of the wedding
  • City and State

There are a number of special circumstances that can add to the complexity of selecting the appropriate wording.  If your circumstances include parents who are divorced, a deceased parent, if this is a second marriage, or your children are doing the inviting, it can make selecting the right words all that more difficult.  If you find you’re struggling to find the right words, visit Invitation Consultants for some sample wording.
